Pumpkin-spiced lattes, cozy sweaters, and warm bonfires are fun, but nothing quite screams October like Halloween decor. For our community residents, we’ve put together some tasteful ways to turn your home into a festive fright fest.
Go All-in Outside
To set the stage for your spooky season decorations, start with your yard. An outdoor display can create an instant spooky atmosphere even before your guests set foot inside. A faux graveyard is a classic choice. Strategically place foam tombstones around your yard, scatter some faux bones or skulls, and if you have trees, consider stringing up some ghostly figures made from white sheets or cheesecloth. For added effect, you could include fog machines or eerie outdoor lighting.
Deck Out the Door
Next on the list is your front door. This is particularly important for trick-or-treaters or anyone passing by. Wreaths aren’t just for Christmas! Consider a DIY wreath using black feathers or orange ribbon. Add a trail of faux spider webs trailing from the wreath to your door handle for extra creepiness.
Let’s Take Things Inside
Your living space can be transformed with simple accessories like throw pillows and blankets in Halloween-themed colors like orange, black, and purple. Decorate your mantle with vintage-inspired items like antique apothecary jars filled with faux eyeballs or old photographs with eyes that seem to follow you around the room.
The kitchen, too, can join in on the fun! Bake some Halloween-inspired treats and display them on a tiered tray with artificial bats or spiders. Replace your regular dish towels with ones featuring Halloween motifs, and don’t forget the dining table. A centerpiece of a carved pumpkin surrounded by autumn leaves and miniature gourds can be a classy nod to the spooky season.
Put on that witch’s hat, break out the spider webs, and let your creativity run wild. We hope you have a Happy Halloween!
